Maintenance of Tanks In Zubair 1
HOME

Recently problems have arisen in the tanks base of oil for many reasons, such as:
1. Oldness of the tanks.
2. The sediments that mixed with oil, such as: water, salts and heavy hydrocarbon materials where those slag settles in the tanks base and take space area of tanks volume, which effect on the storage capacity of tanks
3. The absence of a specialized section to manage like these acts, so the equipment maintenance department initiated to establish anew section in the department its task is to manage maintenance of the tanks and also treat the rust cases which occur in these tanks. The new section called (tanks maintenance section).

Manager Project : C. Engineering Sami.Y.Zamil

Location of work
1.
TK-2:
Diameter of tanks (61 m ),Height ( 12m ), The tank storage capacity of (33 thousand cubic meter )

2.
TK-4:
Diameter of tanks (61 m ), Height ( 12m ), The tank storage capacity of (33 thousand cubic meter )

3.
Tk-15:
Diameter of tanks (51 m ),Height ( 14m ),The tank storage capacity of (28 thousand cubic meter )

4.
Tk-16:
Diameter of tanks (61 m ), Height ( 12m ), The tank storage capacity of (33 thousand cubic meter )

Stages of work
1. Stopping tank from the operation and discharging it crude oil to stop the rate storage at (1.5 m height of the sediments ) depending on the slag nature
2. Recycle slag oil inside tank. The process occurs as follows. Pumping oil through relief line (relieve pipe ) or another pipes to lowest level of slag of oil
3. Linking centrifugal pump, working by diesel, joining this pump on drain pipes for tanks and pumping oil into other systems to decrease amount slug's oil.
4. Construction of concrete tank in front of ground gates in order to open those gates and to let the oil and slag into concrete tank.
5. Set up spiral pump, which work by electric motor, install on the tank to drain oil and slag then pumping into another systems.
6. Letting crude oil with high temperature from drain point into tank then receiving from tank by spiral pump.
7. Involve human staffs operating manual equipment to push remaining remnants of heavy oil at the concrete tanks
8. Start by cleaning the tanks, using white oil and pressed water to remove the sediments.
9. Start with cleaning by sand- blast to remove the rust and old paints on the base and walls of the tanks.
10. Starting to check and evaluate the damage
11. Starting to repair the damages by welding process or changing of damaged base's plates
12. Starting the process of vacuum test for tanks base by vacuum test box
13. Water test or hydrostatic test for the tank after closing the ground and beside gates of the tanks.
14. Starting to open all beside gates ,and starting to ground and cleaning by sand blast and epoxy paint matter
15. Closing the gates and opening the pipes valves , that joints with the tanks and put them into work
